Anna Sadler
Artist Statement
I graduated in MA Fine Art Contemporary Practice, University College Falmouth in September 2011 with a Distinction and winner of the Sandra Blow Award 2011. A multidisciplinary artist, I live and work between Cornwall, Bristol, Glasgow and the USA.
Through performance, video, sound and installation, I create real and physical experiences in space that transport the spectator to a landscape that is strange, foreign and surprising. I work intuitively; performing my body for the camera, responding to space, reinventing surfaces for video projection and re-appropriating objects to view into. My work is not for viewing, but for experiencing – away from the daily cycle of life, the uncertainty of the future and away from the mundane and repetitive existence of the mind. I also actively seek opportunities to hangout in the ‘unknown’ and to physically experience ‘timelessness’ as a way to make sense of the body that we inhabit and the place/time in which we live. Anna recently performed in London for 'Acts Of...' at Testbed 1 Gallery, ‘During and Enduring’ a 24 hour Live Art Performance as part of Live Art Development Agency, DIY 2012. Residencies include East Street Arts, Leeds and Portland Institute for Contemporary Arts, USA. |
About CMR
__CMR is an artist-led
initiative designed to create a community of artists who will exhibit
and flourish within this three storey building. It is a voluntary-run organisation and project. We aim to be all
inclusive; we aim to encourage adventurous work that will respond and
challenge not only to CMR’s various spaces but also the broader
Contemporary Art landscape of Cornwall.
