Anna Stangl
We were honoured to be showing a new work by Anna Stangl in the exhibition 'New Visions: contemporary painting in uncertain worlds', August 2012.
Anna is an artist who lives and works in Vienna, Austria. This was the first time that she has shown in Britain. During a 1-day residency she created a unique site-specific wall painting for this show responding to her visit to England & Cornwall, and the space in the CMR building, called 'Hidden'. HIDDEN "... it is mainly about this nameless fear, we or I feel from time to time. A fear, we don't know, where it comes from and why it is there...The fear, that something bad would happen maybe... So I did paint a huge animal with no face, so You cannot really tell, which kind of animal it is. The woman is hiding very well, first in the corner of the gallery space, second in a canyon and third with her camouflage dress. So hopefully it will work for her, she seems confident about it... " |

About CMR
__CMR is an artist-led
initiative designed to create a community of artists who will exhibit
and flourish within this three storey building. It is a voluntary-run organisation and project. We aim to be all
inclusive; we aim to encourage adventurous work that will respond and
challenge not only to CMR’s various spaces but also the broader
Contemporary Art landscape of Cornwall.
