About us
The GASS Collective is a group of 13 visual artists based in Cornwall.
Group members are all recent graduates from BA or MA programmes selected by Cultivator Cornwall for the Cultivator Graduate Start Up Programme. Over the past year the artists have been supported with studio space, workshops, specialist visual art mentoring and business advice individually tailored to suit each artist and regular coaching with Cultivator Graduate Business Manager, Olivia Beckwith.
The collective has been supported throughout the year in their professional practice by professional artists Naomi Frears, Patrick Lowry and David Paton in order to develop their individual art practices through collective peer criticism walks, gatherings, talks and studio visits.
The Exhibition
In celebration of their achievements over the last year the group has been working towards a collective showcase to be held across three Redruth art spaces in October. The three venues are CMR, Back Lane West and Auction House.
This exhibition ‘CMR BLW AH<<’ will bring their diverse practices into conversation, offer audiences a chance to explore their work in depth as well as offer events and workshops throughout the month.
The exhibition is supported by an illustrated publication with an in-depth specially commissioned essay exploring the practice of each artist by writers Vanessa Murrell of Dateagle Art, Will Rees, Sara Bowler, Cat Bagg and Rosie Thomson-Glover of Field Notes and Phil Newcombe.
Participating artists are:
Ellie Brown, Helena Clarke, Alice Cooke, Mikey Croft, Antonia Glücksman, Cat Horton, Elizabeth Langley, Amberley Long, Amy Morgan, Lucy Middleton, Charlotte Pulfer, Mary Trapp and Caroline Wilkins.
