Victoria is a multimedia artist from Kalmykia, Russia, currently based in Berlin. Her recent focus lies in creating site specific work through the medium of sound and performance.
Our resident artist for August, Victoria Sarangova, has been developing her series Archaeology of Progress for the past month and to conclude her residency we will be hosting a two-part event.
Firstly, an afternoon workshop with herbalist Harriet Coleman, who will introduce the participants to the understanding of the local herbs.
Secondly, Victoria Sarangova will present her work, expanding on the experience of her wanderings through the tacit elements of the Redruth area, with interactions and collaborations bouncing in various constellations: the sound sessions with Martin Pease and SJ Blackmore and the studies of the local plant world with Harriet Coleman and Alice Mahoney resonating with the weekly discussions organised throughout her stay at CMR around such themes as post-industrial landscapes, the writings of Mark Fisher and the potentialities of sci-fi genre.
• 5:30 - 7pm - A workshop led by herbalist Harriet Coleman

If you would only like to come to the artist talk and supper please RSVP via this event and arrive at 7pm.
The workshop led by Harriet Coleman will be focused on making herbal incense from seasonal and native herbs around the local area, with insight into some of the stories and folklore behind these plants.
Join Harriet the Herbalist on a journey of immersion through the power of plants. Harriet will share her extensive knowledge of seasonal medicinal plants and the folklore that connects us with the cyclical rhythms of nature. Exploring magical herbs such as Mugwort; a plant used to encourage lucid dreaming to yarrow; a plant that helps create boundaries and personal power - this workshop intends to awaken your senses and widen your awareness through the understanding of our natural world. As a collective, you will get to create your very own incense stick for many positive intentions + uses and gaining plentiful amounts of plant knowledge for your health and wellbeing.
